Memories of Lenard Eliason
Lenard A. Eliason 1919 ~ 2009 Lenard Alan Eliason, 90, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 due to causes incident to age.Lenard was born June 30, 1919, in Salt Lake City, to Martin Swen and Augusta Anderson Eliason. He graduated from Granite High School in 1937. He served four and a half years in the army during World War II, much of it in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. After his military service, he attended the University of Utah, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. Lenard married Louise Hintze in June of 1950. Lenard taught 6th grade from 1959 to 1981 at Boulton, Howard R. Driggs, Holladay and Carl Sandberg Elementary Schools. Lenard enjoyed breeding and raising quarter horses and thor-oughbreds and often traveled long distances with his wife to bet on horse races. Lenard forever dreamed of the winning ticket and always found a way to include Nevada, keno and slots in his family vacations. Lenard is survived by his two daughters, Joann Hall (William C.) and Christine Katsilas (Jeffrey D.), and one brother, Frank C. Eliason. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Louise, and his sister, Edla R. Eliason. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive.
