Henry Sears Hintze "A Quiet Disciple" Henry Sears Hintze, 90, passed away Friday, November 13, from liver failure. He was born February 11, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Henry Herriman Hintze and Ethel Irene Sears. He married Thelma Elizabeth Korous on June 27, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple. He grew up on a farm in the small town of Elberta, Utah. He loved to recount stories of living there with his eight brothers and two sisters. As a teenager his family moved to Taylorsville, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School in 1939. He served a mission to the Central States Mission from 1940-1942, after which he joined the Navy during World Wart II and was stationed in San Francisco. During his time there he served his fellow LDS GI's by helping plan dances and activities for them as they passed through the busy port. After the war was over he met and married his sweetheart, Thelma. They raised their family in Taylorsville among good friends and family. He and Thelma served a mission to Santa Rosa, CA, from 1989 to 1990. He also served in both the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. He was a gentle man of even temper, good humor and unaffected friendliness. He leaves behind many good friends and a family who adored him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, and siblings Harold, Gene, Jane, Alan, Keith, Lyle, Wendell, and Janice. Survived by brothers, Wayne Ray. Also by children: Ted (Nancy), West Valley City; Pauline (Norman) Butterfield, and Louise (Craig) Elison, West Jordan; Jerry (Jill), Oak City; Joel (Nancy), St. George; and Connie (Kevin) Reece, Elk Ridge; 27 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. A special thanks to his wonderful, caring neighbors, friends, and relatives who watched out for him and visited him during his illness. Also thanks to Hearts for Hospice, especially his nurse Joe and CNA, Chris, who cared for him so tenderly. He was a blessed man passing into the next life knowing he was loved. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 11 a.m at the Riverview Ward, 1325 West 5550 South, Taylorsville. A viewing will be held Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday at the church, 9-10:45 a.m. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.
