James Marshall Divine 1940 ~ 2010 Our dearly loved James Marshall Divine passed away July 12, 2010 in Murray, Utah.He was born May 7, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Fred and Glydia Irene Burke Divine. He was a proud graduate of Granite High School where he made lifelong friends. In 1966 he graduated from the University of Utah. While attending the U he met Kendra Lyn Dedekind whom he married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1967. He worked for the Utah Department of Employment Security and sincerely loved his co-workers. He and his family are supporters of the University and its many programs, including medicine and athletics. They know the campus well, from the hospital to the football stadium and basketball arena where they loudly cheer for their "Runnin' Utes." Jim and Kendra are the parents of three children- Rachel (James) Lewis, Emily, and Joshua (Patti) Divine whom they raised in Cottonwood Heights, surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors. They are also the proud grandparents of five grandsons: Parker and Preston Lewis, Bryce, Ryan, and Tyler Divine. Jim has had many opportunities to serve in the LDS Church. He served an LDS mission to the Central Atlantic States. He served on the high council of the University of Utah First Stake and then as Bishop of the University Third Ward, where he met young people who continued to shape his love and understanding of people. At the time of his death he was a High Priest group instructor in the River Ridge 7th ward. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Burk. He is survived by his wife, children, grandsons, nephew, nieces, and cousins. We give special thanks to the staff at the University of Utah Medical Center, especially to Dr. Fuad Shihab and Dr. Barry Stults who directed his care for many years.
