Mary Madsen Ellsworth 10/5/1922 ~ 11/10/2010 Mary Lucile Madsen Ellsworth died November 10, 2010. Mary was born in Salt Lake City. Utah on October 5, 1922 to Richard W. Madsen, Jr. and Lucile Ballard Madsen. She spent most of her youth in Cottonwood. After graduating from Granite High School, she earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Utah in English and History. She spent a year in Denver, Colorado in the mission field before marrying Dr. Homer S. Ellsworth September 30, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 59 years before he died on September 25, 2005. Homer and Mary were parents of nine children: Mary Bunch (Thomas), Kristine Van Wagoner (Jon), Richard M. (Peggy), Ellen North (Richard), Elise Nielsen (Raymond), Patrice Dickson (Ronald), Sterling M., M.D. (Patricia), E. Duff (Joan), and Laurence R. (Caldene). In addition they have 38 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren. The love and support of her family and friends brought her deep and abiding joy. She had supreme gratitude for each of them and for her membership in the LDS Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard William Madsen III, her granddaughter Marta Ellsworth and her father and mother-in-law, German E. and Mary Smith Ellsworth. At her request there will not be a viewing or funeral only a graveside service for her immediate family.
