Memories of James Bradford
James Lynn Bradford 1928 ~ 2011 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him passed away on Feb. 12, 2011 after a courageous six year battle with colon cancer. Lynn loved life and his goal was to live to be 100, although he did not quite make it. He gave it his "best shot" and the best effort anyone ever could.Lynn was born on Oct. 25, 1928 to Cora Jane and Leland Bradford and was the youngest of four brothers. Lynn graduated from Granite High School, after which he served an LDS mission to the Mid-Western States Mission. After completing his mission, Lynn served in the U.S. Army's Signal Corps from 1951 to 1953. On March 12, 1953, Lynn married the love of his life and best friend, Dorothy Snape, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had three wonderful children: Becky, Sheri and Brad. Lynn's love of learning and teaching lead him to earn three education degrees from the University of Utah. He was a teacher and a vice-principal for Jordan School District and also taught for Brigham Young University's Salt Lake City Extension Center for 42 years. Lynn loved to teach and was an incredibly gifted and talented teacher. He was extremely liked and appreciated by his students and was awarded teacher of the year by the B.Y.U. Extension. He loved to play basketball, fishing and bowling, but especially enjoyed being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be best remembered for his deep love of his wife, children and family and in his sharing his deep seated testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ with his family and friends. He was a great example of a Christ like life. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. Lynn is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Becky Salisbury, Sheri Burns, and Brad L. Bradford; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Butler 7th Ward, 1435 East 7200 South, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
