Memories of Jack Monson
Jack Monson 1926 ~ 2011 Our wonderful, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Jack Mayne Monson, passed away at home February 27, 2011. He was born February 9, 1926 to Swen A. Monson and Sarah C. Mayne. He was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully as a Bishop and in many callings throughout his life. He attended Granite High School and was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy. After the war he served in the East Central States Mission. He graduated from BYU and worked as a photo journalist for the Deseret News for 35 yrs. He married Darlene Louise Bailey on July 2, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple and had six children. Preceded in death by parents, siblings and two grandchildren Brady and Mandy Monson. Survived by his eternal companion Darlene and his children: Don (Chris) Monson, Debra (Glenn) Staley, Jeff (Brenda) Monson, Abbie (Jim) Roderick, Renn Monson, Benjamin (Michelle) Monson; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Service and viewings will be held at the Cottonwood 8th Ward building on 6301 S 2300 E Cottonwood Heights, UT. Viewings will be held Friday March 4, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday March 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.. Funeral service will be Saturday March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.. Internment at Redwood Memorial 6500 S. Redwood Rd. Taylorsville, UT.
