Ruth Aileen Shipley Tucker Beloved Wife and Mother Ruth died peacefully at home on April 23, 2011 at age 87 of congestive heart failure surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 22, 1923 in Oneida, Idaho to William B. and Aileen Henrichsen Shipley. She spent her early years in Sugar House and then on a farm in Holladay, Utah. She graduated from Granite High School in 1941 and then attended BYU. She loved music and the fine arts, and was involved in it all of her life. She was a tap dancer and played the violin. She married her high school sweetheart Lee E. Tucker in Nebraska on June 19, 1944 just before he shipped overseas as a P-47 pilot in World War II. They enjoyed 67 years together. As a military wife, she lived all over the world including may bases in the US and Germany. She loved to travel and meet new people. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church her entire life and held many teaching and music callings in Primary, Relief Society, and Sunday School and was a visiting teacher for 45 years. Ruth loved serving others and spent many hours volunteering at the Assistance League, the Yuma Regional Hospital, and as a Gray Lady in military hospitals. The most important thing in her life was her family which included three children, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many family pets. She will be especially missed by her little dog Aile. Ruth loved fashion and shopping. In her later years, she especially enjoyed going on cruises with her family and friends. She and Lee also enjoyed summers at their cabin in Pinetop, Arizona in the cools pines. She sent a card for every birthday to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss her laughter, her passion for life, and her love of people. She lived every day to the fullest. Survivors include husband, children: Terry (Lana) Tucker, Annette Tucker Matkin, and Anita Aileen Davenport (Charlie). Preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Christensen, and brother Duane Shipley. A special thanks to IHC Hospice and nurse Erin. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at 12 noon at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park (Camp Williams, just off Redwood Road) 1711 S. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale, Utah. Private family viewing before the service. Online condolences at http://www.*****/****
