Simon Paez 1924 ~ 2011 Simon (Cy) Paez passed away on June 9, 2011, in Orange CA.Cy was born in Fort Morgan, CO. He was the second of 11 children born to Juan and Enedina Paez. Cy was raised in south Salt Lake City and attended Granite High School. He married Paula Romo and together they had two children. During World War II, Cy served in the U.S. Merchant Marine. As a seaman he traveled throughout the world; an experience that had a lasting impact on his life. After the war, he and Paula moved to southern California, eventually settling in Garden Grove. For over 30 years he maintained a floor covering business, Carpet Center, in Garden Grove. He was active in the local business community. Cy loved meeting and engaging with people. He was never judgmental and always a friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. Cy is survived by his children, Daphne Gieseking and Richard; his grandchildren, Lisa and David Paez, his siblings, Lillie Young, Angie Bowden, Alice Simpson, Annie Hoffman, Ruthie Bowcut, Genevieve Nygren, Nancy Blair, John Paez (San Jose, CA), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Cy was predeceased by his sisters Jenny Smith and Mary Filson. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster, CA on June 14, 2011. Cy was laid to rest next to Paula his wife of 65 years. A memorial service for Cy will be held on August 15, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Westminster Memorial Park. Remembrances of Cy's life may be made through donations to the Arthritis Foundation .
