Fern Ilene Christensen Erekson
MURRAY, UT-With thankful hearts we pay tribute to our dear mother who passed away on December 9, 2011 after a life well lived at the age of 91. Fern was born July 22, 1920 in Blanding, Utah to John Franklin and Fern LaPrele Pickett Christensen. She was the 3rd of 4 children. She graduated from Granite High School where she met her eternal companion, Quentin J. Erekson, who preceded her in death. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 23, 1943. Their lives were blessed with 8 children; Jim (Loma), Neal (deceased), Dan (Kathy), Eilene (Paul Hezseltine), Julie (Jeff Keeney), Linda (Greg Low), Chris (Holly), Kate (Bob Long), 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband Quentin, brother Juan, sister Ruth Hyer, son Neal. She is survived by her sister Ila Gardner. Mom took great care in creating a peaceful and inviting home. Friends and extended family were always welcome. She was a sweet person who expressed genuine love and care for everyone. Her family was her life-she loved children. Gardening brought her great joy. She served in many callings in her church, her favorite being in the library where she served for over 45 years. She was also very active with the Farm Bureau organization and 4-H. We would like to thank the many family members, especially grandchildren, that took care of her after Quentin's passing making it possible for her to stay in her beloved home for so many years. We would also like to thank Sharon Williams, Country Care Homes and Curo Hospice for their tender loving care of our sweet mother.
